HomeMaintList

AI assistant connector

Talk to your home maintenance list

Connect HomeMaintList to Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini and your assistant can read and update your list. Ask what's due, say when a job's done, and add new ones in plain words, typing or talking.

What you can ask

Your assistant can do nearly everything the web app does with tasks and appliances. A few examples:

Check what's due

  • “What needs doing at the house this week?”
  • “Is anything overdue?”

Log a job

  • “I replaced the furnace filter today. It cost $18.”
  • “Skip the deck this year.”

Add and change jobs

  • “Add a task to test the sump pump every spring.”
  • “Snooze cleaning the gutters until next Saturday.”

Look up your appliances

  • “What model is my water heater?”
  • “What size air filter does the furnace take?”

Ask about the past

  • “When did we last pump the septic tank?”
  • “What did we spend on the house this year?”

Get the how-to

  • “How do I flush the water heater?”
  • “What jobs should a house with a well have?”

How to connect it

Create your list first. Then copy your connector URL from Settings, under AI assistant, and add it to your assistant as a custom connector. Settings has step-by-step help for each assistant.

Claude

  1. At claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app, go to Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector. Name it HomeMaintList and paste your connector URL.
  3. Sign in to HomeMaintList and click Connect.

Works on every plan, including free, which allows one custom connector. Once it's added, it works in Claude's mobile app too, including voice mode.

ChatGPT

  1. At chatgpt.com, add a custom MCP server.
  2. Name it HomeMaintList, paste your connector URL, and choose OAuth for authentication.
  3. Sign in to HomeMaintList and click Connect.

Custom MCP servers are mainly for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, where an admin may need to allow them.

Gemini

  1. At gemini.google.com on a computer, open Settings, then Connected Apps.
  2. Under Custom apps, click Add a custom app and paste your connector URL.
  3. Sign in to HomeMaintList and click Connect.

Custom apps need a personal Google account in the US. It works in Gemini's mobile app too.

Any other assistant that supports remote MCP servers with sign-in can use the same connector URL. It sets itself up, so there's nothing else to configure.

You stay in control

  • You sign in and approve each assistant once. It only reaches the homes you own or share.
  • Creating homes and sharing them with other people stay in the web app.
  • Your assistant can check with you before it changes anything. In Claude, let read-only tools run straight away and keep the rest at Needs approval, so it answers questions at once and asks before it edits or deletes.
  • Settings lists every connected assistant and when it last used your list. Disconnect one with a click.
