Inspect attic for rodents
Every year on January the 13th
No one wants to believe that mice, squirrels, or other rodents could be in the attic, but it's still best to check. A few minutes out of your day and determine if these pests have invaded your home and allow you to be proactive before they cause big problems.

- A ladder (if there is not a pull down ladder)
- A flashlight

What You Need to Do
- Enter the attic either via the pull down ladder, or by a ladder positioned to gain access to the entranceway.
- Once in the attic, be sure to only step on solid wood. This means stepping on ceiling joists that you can see or on a wood platform that may rest on top of the joists.
- Look around at the insulation and look for signs of tunneling or burrowing.
- Look at wires and inspect for signs of chewing or gnawing.
- Look for any rodent feces. It will look like small dark pellets.
- If evidence is found, the next job is to inspect the house for the entry point. Hiring a professional pest removal company may be wise.
