Clean dryer vent

Cleaning your dryer vent on a regular basis is an important home maintenance task. You'll be surprised to find out just how much dryer lint can accumulate in the pathway between your dryer and the outside of your house. Keeping this clean and unobstructed can help save you from the danger of a house fire.
Things You'll Need
- A screwdriver, or nut driver, to loosen the hose clamp
- A shop vacuum
- Vent brush

30-45 minutes
What You Need to Do
- Pull the dryer away from the wall so you can gain easier access to the vent.
- Remove the hose running from the dryer to the dryer vent.
- Vacuum any loose material from the back of the dryer and inside the hole on the back of the dyer.
- Take the dryer hose outside and use the vacuum and vent brush to clean it out.
- Inspect the dryer host for any rips or tears. If there are any, you may want to replace it.
- Remove the exterior vent cover.
- Vacuum as far as you can from each side (interior and exterior) of the dryer vent.
- Use the vent brush to brush the inside of the vent.
- Vacuum the vent again to remove anything loose.
- Reinstall the exterior vent cover.
- Reinstall the hose to the back of the dryer and put the dryer back in place.
- Clean the lint trap on the dryer.
- Run the dryer for 15-20 minutes on a low setting and verify everything is working great.
- Mark this task complete.
