Clean dishwasher and filter

Every 4 months on the 28th
No one likes washing dishes by hand. The dishwasher comes to your rescue and it doesn't ask for a lot in return. Cleaning the filter in the dishwasher on a regular basis will make sure that is keep your dishes sparkling clean and draining the dirty water quickly.

Things You'll Need

  • Dishwasher cleaner or a product like CLR
  • A dishwashing brush

Time Involved

5-10 minutes + time for a dishwasher cycle

What You Need to Do

  • Open the dishwasher and locate and remove the filter at the bottom of the unit.
    • This may be a cylindrical filter that twists out (counter clockwise, most likely) or a "grate" style filter that just lifts up and out. Some models have both.
  • Clean the filter at the sink with hot water and a brush.
  • Reinstall the filter.
  • Add the dishwashing cleaner or CLR to the unit and run a cycle.
  • Mark this task complete.
